The rooms and enchanting garden of the historic Semper Villa, along with the modern Roccolo annexe, are the ideal setting for reflection and work to those who seek peace, inspiration, focus and creative exchange. The rooms and enchanting garden of the historic Semper Villa, along with the modern Roccolo annexe, are the ideal setting for reflection and work to those who seek tranquillity, inspiration, focus and creative exchange. The architectural quality of Villa Garbald, restored by Miller & Maranta and complemented with the Roccolo, was awarded the golden nail by «Gute Bauten Graubünden» in 2013. The entire complex is at the exclusive disposal of study groups for the duration of their work project or retreat.
Villa Garbald Seminar Centre was established after the refurbishment of Villa Garbald (2001–2004) and the erection of the new Roccolo building. Modern seminar infrastructure and the southern alpine ambience make it a unique location for scientific, cultural or economic workshops, retreats and events.
Along with the extensive renovation of the Villa, the garden was also brought back to splendour. The award-winning landscape architect and garden historian Jane Sarah Bihr-de Salis subtly developed and reinterpreted the existing gardens with gentle renovations, additions and new planting.
The garden with Semper’s generous pergola and the seasonal blaze of colour of the southern Alpine valleys forms an inspiring place for thought that enchants the villa’s guests in every season.
In the Swiss Garden Year 2006, Pro Patria Foundation honoured the exceptional gardens with a 1-Franc stamp in its “Historical Gardens and Parks of Switzerland” series.
