An inspiring place for thought and research
Away from all urban buzz and surrounded by the austere beauty of Val Bregaglia, the unique natural landscape stimulates new perspectives and fresh ideas.
Deep in the south of the Canton of Grisons, on the border with Italy, lies one of the largest and most beautiful chestnut groves in Europe. Until the middle of the 20th century, the high-calorie chestnut was a staple food of Bregaglians. The chestnuts were dried in small drying huts – the cascine – in order to preserve and process them.
In 2018, Ruinelli Associati Architetti, Soglio rebuilt Studio Cascina Garbald as part of an ensemble of old drying huts, following the architectural principles of the cascina. Studio Cascina Garbald will allow you to find focus, reflection, leisure and creative power.
